They said it... Fun facts:

 

During spring trainging, the Cardinals acquire Joe Torre from the Braves for Orlando Cepeda.

The Cardinals were the visiting team in the first major league game played in Canada on 4/14.  The lost to the Expos 8-7 despite a grand slam by Dal Maxvill.

In the All-Star game, "Lefty" Steve Carlton becomes the only Cardinals' left-hander to get an All-Star victory.

Steve Carlton whiffed 219 batters this season and holds the team record for strikeouts by a "lefty."  Lefty strikes out 19 batters on September 15th.
