Highlights:

Ken Reitz sets a new fielding record for N.L. third basemen by committing only 8 errors.

On August 29th, Whitey Herzog is named GM.

This home opener (April 10th) may have been the most exciting one ever.  The Pirates were in town and Pete Vuckovich started for the Birds.  He took a 1-0 lead into the ninth and then proceeded to wild-pitch the tying and winning runs to third and second and because the Birds had no bullpen to speak of, he was allowed to stay in the game.  He then struck out Tim Foli, Dave Parker, and Willie Stargell in succession to preserve the win!

In the August 28th rout of the Braves 11-2, Dane Iorg drove in 7 runs the the first four innings.
