A new manually operated scoreboard is erected in the upper deck of center field.  On either side of the 270 foot long scoreboard is flag decks commemoration the 9 retired uniform numbers as well as the 9 World Series championships.

The right field alley is pulled in 3 feet to 372 to make room for another bullpen.

On April 8th, Willie McGee hits a pinch-hit, walk-off home run on Opening day.

The April 10th game is postponed due to snow!

The Cardinals play the Padres in the first ever MLB game in Hawaii on April 19th (doubleheader) and April 20th at Aloha Stadium.

On June 14th, St. Louis plays host to the Cleveland Indians for a day-night doubleheader that marks the first regular season interleague game.  (The previous nights game was postponed due to rain.)

A mid-season trade brings a true power hitter to the Cardinals.  Mark McGwire falls in love with St. Louis and signs a contract extension before the season's over!   But even Big Mac couldn't pull the Cards above a 4th place finish.

Ray Lankford becomes the first Cardinals player since 1973 to lead the team in all three Triple Crown categories by batting .297 with 31 HRs and 98 RBIs.
